OK, that was wierd. I just spend the last hour and a half or so flirting online with my ex- girlfriend from high school, Nicole. I don't know if I've mentioned her in here or not before, but to make a long story short, she transferred to my high school at the beginning of my junior year. We were in band together, same section, and I found out from others she was interested in me. We went out for a weekend around Valentine's Day, I decided I didn't want to date her, (I had a crush on another girl) and we remained friends the rest of that year. That summer, we talked/ flirted/ hung out the majority of the time, even though she was dating friends of mine. I quickly realized I'd made a mistake not dating her, so after assorted drama that fall that I REALLY don't want to go into, we ended up hooking up, and dated through the rest of that school year and over the summer until we both left for school. As a matter of fact the only reason we broke up was because we were both leaving to go to school.

As time passed, we continued talking back and forth, and I even went up to Chapel Hill one weekend to visit her and hang out. We dated other various people, broke up with them, and compared stories.

After repairing my computer last month, we've been talking again, and not too long ago, Erin asked me about her, and what I thought would have happened if we had continued dating post- high school. To be honest, I had no idea whatsoever, and when we talked about it, I believe her reply was,
"well, it would have saved us both a lot of heartache."
So there you have it, but damn! she was right.

Then just today we were talking again. Now, she's been single a lot longer than I have (over a year, I believe), and is hating it more than I am, though I'm more vocal about it. SO I start complaining about it:

N71181: So what are your plans for the now rained out day?
tspencer227: still working on it.
N71181: hehe
tspencer227: but I'm thinking it might involve the fireplace, a Craig David CD, an unopened bottle of '96 Cabernet, and whoever I can find who's off from work.
tspencer227: O:-)
N71181: wow
tspencer227: ;-)
tspencer227: you sound surprised
N71181: not really
tspencer227: O:-)
tspencer227: some things never change.
tspencer227: besides, I don't really think I'll carry that plan all the way through....nobody up here special enough and single to do all that for.
N71181: yeah well
tspencer227: all the good ones get snapped up way too fast.
tspencer227: :-(
N71181: I hate cleaning out my inbox
N71181: hehe
N71181: so how to explain me? j/k
tspencer227: if you lived up here or I lived down there, I'd have to retract my previous statement....but then again if that were the case, would I be complaining in the first place? ;-)O:-)
N71181: hehe
tspencer227: :-*
tspencer227: so to revise my previous remarks, all the good ones in this area get snapped up way too quickly.
N71181: ;-)
tspencer227: oh, behave.
N71181: you know me
N71181: I am a good girl
tspencer227: to a point.
N71181: yeah

It was as if we'd just picked up where we left off in high school, except we weren't sitting outside Ben and Jerry's, or Caribou Coffee. And as we continued talking, it got better:

tspencer227: and the not so good side is fun....just wished I'd had the balls to explore that side more in high school.
tspencer227: and I know you wish I had too.
N71181: hehe...well I have my limits
tspencer227: yes, I know. But so did I at the time, and there are some things I still won't do.
N71181: really? I wouldn't gather that from your journal
tspencer227: though I do remember in high school a couple of times hearing you complaining to somebody or other while we were dating about the lack of play in our relationship.
tspencer227: ouch, that stung
N71181: I was kidding
tspencer227: ok
N71181: and yeah well
tspencer227: I'm really not a slut, you know.
tspencer227: O:-)
N71181: I know
N71181: I am just teasing

That was one of the things that had turned me on to her the most in high school- the fact that she could dish out a comeback without even thinking about it. Well, that and the fact that she was so much damned fun to get worked up....:

tspencer227: nice to know you've still got it.
N71181: sorry I am slow to respond I am trying to clear out the 750 message that were in my inbox
N71181: yeah I still got it
tspencer227: lol
N71181: maybe
tspencer227: you can still make me blush with your stunning ripostes. Not many others can these days.
N71181: good..I like having that power
tspencer227: and I'm willing to bet I could still get you flustered, given the chance.
N71181: oh I have no doubt
tspencer227: hehehehe
N71181: hell some times I look at a hammock and blush..
tspencer227: LOL!
tspencer227: nice to know I'm not the only one.

Argh! And she had to mention the hammock! What really got me at the end was that she had the nerve to throw down a challenge, or at least thinly veil one. (back in high school, we used to annoy the OM team we ran with the wrestling matches we would inevitably end up getting into as a vehicle for an argument that would end up in just being for the sake of flirtation.)

N71181: ok I have to go...talk to you later
tspencer227: lol
tspencer227: too much for you, am I?
tspencer227: ;-)
N71181: not at all
N71181: I can take you
tspencer227: I know...teasing
tspencer227: can you now.
N71181: hehe
tspencer227: that sounds like a chalenge.
N71181: haha
tspencer227: challenge*
tspencer227: are you sure you want to do that?
N71181: not really
N71181: ok I have to go
N71181: I will talk to you later
tspencer227: talk to you later.

Ok, that's it. Nice to know we're still friends, and it's nice to know we still know how to push each other's buttons. I'm planning on going down there, probably next weekend, and this makes it a bit more interesting. While I would never EVER attempt to get her in bed (which she also knows), my curiosity is piqued in a way that should make things interesting. I'll be curious to see what happens, and I'll keep yall posted. Here's to hoping I don't do something stupid.

It's not that accurate, but some parts are amusing as hell.
