Girls and Boys
Aug. 17th, 2003 08:22 pmSo I finally went and picked up the new car this past Friday after we pulled back in, and let me just say she's beautiful. A red 2001 Honda Prelude Type S with a 5 speed. No name for her yet, but that's because we're still getting acquainted. I'll work on that part as we get to know each other better over the next few weeks. On an amusing note, I was supposed to meet up with friends of mine Friday night out at Duck Inn's, a beach bar over off Shore Drive, the ritzy 'resort area' of Virginia Beach where the trendy and beautiful hang out to avoid the crush of more 'normal' tourists who choke the strip. Driving around there was quite amusing- I got more looks, waves, glance, and stares from women who wouldn't have even given me the time of day had I still been driving around in the old wagon. I guess that Good Charlotte really did have it right:

Boys will laugh at girls when they're not funny.

But girls with the bodies like boys with Ferraris..."
To top off the night, I drove up to Hampton to hang with friends at one of my favorite local watering holes, Marker 20. I think I like the place so much because it reminds me of places I used to haunt back in Charleston, what with the open- air patio, the laid- back, friendly and familiar wait staff, and the live music most nights of the week. So to continue, as soon as word got out about the new car, several of the waitresses whom I'd maybe talked to once or twice at most walked over and struck up conversations, all wanting to know what I was doing later, etc, and asking when I could take them for a ride in the car. I remember thinking to myself, "damn, I should have bought this a long time ago!" It's like Tim Allen said in his stand- up act- "oh, it's just and extension of your penis!" hehehehe....I wish! Part of me is wondering how I can use this for my own evil gains, and part of me is wondering if I should be wary, and if all this new interest is because, as a friend of mine at work puts it, "women are money- grubbing sluts." Now, I don't think women are sluts by any measure (I really REALLY hate that word, as a matter of fact), but it does seem interesting that all this interest should spark after I bought the new ride. I'll have to investigate that one further....anybody got any remarks to offer about that, based on past experience or observations?
On another note, 2 more days until BLUES TRAVELER, and then only 2 more days after that until LUNATIC LUA (sp?). It's going to be a fun week. Well, back to watch. Goodnight all, I'll talk to you later.
