The Year in Review- 2005

I thought this looked appropriate as a starting point, since it's been such a busy year...

 

1. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before? Cried on the ship. (both Ben and Tom's memorial services)
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? No, I don't think I even bothered trying this past year. As for the year to come...we'll see.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? My aunt Margareth now has a beautiful baby boy!
4. Did anyone close to you die? Tom, Ben, Zach...it's been a really bad year for nukes on my ship. :(
5. What countries did you visit? Mexico...does Hawaii count?
6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005? A job off the ship! (Looking forward to March...)
7. What date from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? July 16, 2005- the day Tom Bates was found dead in his rack on the ship...losing so close of a friend of mine really made me re-evaluate a lot of things in my life.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Getting orders to a shore command, in my field, in San Diego- next to impossible for a nuke. :)
9. What was your biggest failure? I haven't kept in as close of touch with some people as I should have...and they know who they are...
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? No, I was lucky this year.                                                                                                             11. What was the best thing you bought? my iPod- gotta be my favorite toy.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? Tough call...there were a lot of heroes.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? The two motherfuckers from the New Years party at Roy's- I swear if I ever see them, I will kill them. Period.
14. Where did most of your money go? covering Bob's inability to pay the bills, car repairs.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Getting off the ship
16. What song will always remind you of 2005? Obsession, by Pretty Ricky
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? happier
ii. thinner or fatter? ummm....more cut than last year? (got a band-aid?)
iii. richer or poorer? richer! (finally out of that apartment, rid of the deadbeat roommate, and FINALLY getting paid for 1st!)
18. What do you wish you'd done more of? working out
19. What do you wish you'd done less of? getting drunk and chasing women
20. How will you be spending Christmas? Middle of Nowhere, NY with the fams.
22. Did you fall in love in 2005? Yes I did...and she's still with me. :)
23. How many one-night stands? 3...but I've learned from my mistakes.
24. What was your favorite TV program? Family Guy and Nip/Tuck (when I was on land to watch it...)

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? Yes...more people than I'd like to admit to.
26. What was the best book youread? The 5 People You Meet in Heaven   

    27. What was your greatest musical discovery? Coheed and Cambria
28. What did you want and get? orders off the ship (are yall noticing a pattern here?)
30. What was your favorite film of this year? Star Wars: Episode 3 (yes, I know I'm a geek)
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? Turned 24- was out to sea (again), stood watch, worked out, probably got yelled at, and thought a lot about Tom...I still miss the guy.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? More time on land
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005? beach bum

34. What kept you sane? Amy, Sam, my civillian friends here and back at home, Captain Morgan, the gym
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johannssen
36. What political issue stirred you the most? Bush's speech at NAS North Island on V-J Day
37. Who did you miss? the young 'uns back in NY
38. Who was the best new person you met? Amy...like you're that surprised. ;)
