Memorial Day Weekend Blues
May. 28th, 2006 11:32 amSo here it is, most of the way through the weekend, and I have yet to even see my girlfriend- granted, there's been a lot going on, but it still sucks something terrible...
After I made my way back to San Diego from Santa Ana, (which is another long story I'll get into llater) Amy called me, and we talked for a little while. She got some kind of rash on her forehead and cheeks when she went to yoga earlier this week, and had apparently asked her (hypochondriac) doctor mother for advice- which, coupled with her lack of energy recently (understandable because of the job), led her mom to believe that Amy has lupus.
Great. I'll have to thank her next time I see her.
As you can probably imagine, she was doing research on the internet and flipping out a bit herself when I talked to her, and I offered to go over and help try and calm her down, but she said that wouldn't be necessary- she was going to get some sleep and call it an early night. So I asked her about what she had planned for Saturday, and reminded her about the beerbecue I was having here at my place.
Then she told me that her ex boyfriend was coming into town for the day on Saturday, and she was going to be spending the day hanging out with him. I said ok, if you all want to stop by the party feel free, and she reminded me that the guy doesn't want to meet me. Which, remembering the drama that surrounded his last visit down here, I'm surprised she still wants to see him anyway. But that's another long story.
I talked to her again yesterday morning as I was starting to get preparations going for the party here, and she told me that we'd hang out on Sunday, maybe go boating, or go to the beach, or do something like that- after all, she's leaving for Arizona for a week sometime Monday. And, she told me she wanted to go out and do something fun Sunday night, stay over here at the place and maybe go out to breakfast or something Monday morning before she has to leave for Arizona. Sounds like a pretty good plan.
The beerbecue was a great success, and a good time was had by everybody who came out, and I had a long conversation with Melinda, Amy's roommate and probably one of her closest friends from high school onward. I won't go into that here, but it got me thinking about a lot of things that I'm still sorting out in my head.
As I started cleaning up earlier this morning, Amy called me to say hi, and see how I was doing. Granted, I was still a little bit hung over, but we chatted for a while about how the day went for us yesterday- she and the ex went to Sea World and out to dinner, and she went to bed early, and apparently is still a bit freaked out about the whole Lupus thing. So I asked her if she still wanted to go boating, or if she wanted to do something else, and she told me she had a beach barbecue to go to for work this afternoon in Del Mar. I asked her if she wanted me to go along, and she said no, she thought it'd be better if she just went alone. So, I asked her what she wanted to do later, and she mentioned that her mom's friend's daughter is in town, and wanted to do something this evening, so she'd let me know. "But we'll hang out sometime."
We hung up a little while later, and I was left with this lingering feeling that something was off. I don't know, but I tried calling her back to ask her what's bothering her, but she's not answering her phone right now.
More later- I think I'm going to roll over to her place and see if I can find out what's wrong.
