Spring is Here
Mar. 27th, 2004 11:23 amOK, I'm guessing it's safe to say it's official- springtime is here. The wintertime constellations- Orion, the hunter, Canis Major and Minor, the greater and lesser dogs, are giving way to their warmer-weather breatheren- Hercules and his foe Draco, the Great and lesser bears that have been used for generations to guide traverlers. I'm glad the gloomy days of winter are done- it's been too gloomy, too cold, and too grey for far too long. Of course, it doesn't help that it's been 'one of those years' so far, either. That's ok, though- for me spring has always held the promise of new beginnings as we shed our heavy coats and cloaks that have covered and protected us all winter, and begin donning lighter shades, hues, and materials, making us more open, aware, and free as the warmer weater and longer days come.
Speaking of less clothing, I've got to say one thing: being on duty on the ship last night was a bit.....awkward; as I walked around the passageways after hours, I seemed to run into just about everybody on their way out for the night- girls barely graduated from high school who are younger than my little brother, all skanktified out for a night on the town. God it made me feel old......all the more reason why I need to get my 20 year- old body back....but that's in the works as it is.....
Well, time to go out and play- I hear the beach calling my name, and I know a certain little open- air bistro that'll be opening again in a matter of weeks. So if you need me, I'll be that the Republic....or somewhere like it, enjoying a new beginning.
