"So where were you while we were getting high???"
- Kathleen Kurdys, in numerous letters passed during English and Geometry freshman year.

So back in July I was hunting around on Ticketmaster for the hell of it while we were out to sea, and what did my little snooping eyes find but Oasis, coming to play here in Chula Vista in September. So what did I do? Pulled out the credit card, and ordered the two best seats they had available- front section, stage left, halfway back. Not a bad way to spend $150, right?

I invited my good friend (though I'm wondering if she's thinking of more than that) Melissa along- besides being a lot of fun to hang out with and talk to, she's got very good taste in music, and like me, remembers Oasis when thinking back to high school days gone past. She of course jumped at the chance, and there was nothing to do but wait.

We had (correctly) suspected that the majority of the crowd at the show would be from our age group, those who remembered their first album (and yes, that really was 10 years ago), and still had fond memories of the band in their younger, crazier days. Well, that, and the obligatory crazy Brits (all of them in the San Diego area, I think.)

The show was a lot of fun- Jet (the band who sings that "Are you gonna be my girl" song) opened for them, and actually put on a pretty good show for an opening band; they had fans there as well, and they were better than some other bands I've seen as openers. Oasis finally took the stage after Melissa and I found the stand that sells the super-massive Margaritas, and the crowd started going wild. The band started with a couple of songs off the new album (which, although nobody has it, is really quite good), before they finally started playing some of the older stuff off "What's The Story? (Morning Glory)" including the title track, Hello, Roll With, Don't Look Back in Anger, and of course, Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova. By the time they got to that song, we'd drained the Margarita glasses and were both slightly drunk, so it made it that much more fun. I'd stolen a couple of Bob's Zippos, and I think that the entire stadium was full of people holding up lighters and singing along.

All in all, it was a very good concert. :)

Very busy. I have been working 7 days a week for a couple of months now, until this past week. I got bronchitis and a nasty sinus infection so I have been off all week which on one hand was nice, but the other not (obviously). I got your last email and I am very sorry..you all have had a very rough year. I hope everything else is going allright with you.

Middle school?? Damn, now you're making ME feel old. Yeah, it was an awesome concert- and I think it was cooler that the majority of the audience there was in our age group- no silly little kids.

Other than that, life's been good overall, as if you couldn't tell. ;) How 'bout you?

You brought up Kathleen Kurdys? Wow, that's digging deep into the memory stores. Well it is for me anyway. Bare Naked Ladies also makes me think of high school.
