The countdown so far:

20 days 'til I leave the ship

23 days 'til I'm back in San Diego.

So, did everbody have a good Valentine's Day? Looking back at my entry last year, I'd have to say that even though I'm out to sea, halfway around the world from the woman I love, just knowing that she's waiting for me back at home still puts a smile on my face. I arranged for a couple of deliveries, including a singing telegram for yesterday...before I remembered that Amy's in LA for the week for her new job. So Lizel, I think her roommates got a surprise like you did that one time- I'm looking forward to hearing what they have to say about it. :)

So, it's been a little while since I updated- I'm really pumped about getting out of here early next month, and getting back to San Diego- to put it mildly, my time one the Reagan is passed, for the most part- most of the folks that I came here with have already left, and I swear the new kids are getting younger and younger...did I look that young 5 years ago, Mandy?

Singapore was loads of fun- the people, the culture, everything there was really amazing- I'm definately planning on going back sometime as a normal tourist...we made friends with a few of the locals there, and they've already told me that next time I come to town, they'll show me the rest of the spots I missed...we had a blast exploring the city, drinking the local alcohol and eating the local food (tip: NEVER get Mexican food in Southeast Asia...), and spent way too much money, but I'd say it was well worth it.

Anyway, time to get back to work, but I'll write more later. I hope everybody else is doing well, and I'll try to check all of yalls journals soon!

Haha, you did. We all did. Heck, seeing the nukes now makes me want to cry. I feel super old!

It's depressing, isn't it? I guess I knew I was old when I met a kid here on the ship who had never seen Home Alone, because he was only 3 when it came out! When the hell did we get old??

UGH!!!!! That really makes me sad!!! The sad thing is I never thought I was old, and then I started realizing I relate to things now that kids have no clue about. How depressing!

I know it! I was talking to a kid on the mess decks yesterday and made a Steve Urkel remark...and he'd never seen Family Matters! Do you have ANY idea how old that makes me feel???

Wow, he's never seen Family Matters. Then again Matt is older then I am, and he probably has never seen it. Strange growing up in Wisconsin inside a big white bubble.

why in God's name did you get Mexican food in Southeast Asia? Ugh. Pearls before swine, as they say. Haha. I didn't know what that meant till a few days ago, and here you have provided me with an appropriate time to use it.

OK, in my defense it wasn't my idea, I swear. And like I said, it was really, really bad! But the rest of the stuff we had was really good! Have you ever been to Singapore, Gerin?
